Projects
Tachalo
Tachalo is a WordPress-based website designed and developed by me, aimed at introducing a review platform to rural areas in third-world countries, starting with El Salvador and potentially expanding across Central America. The project addresses a significant gap identified through research, where there is a demand for a Yelp-like interface tailored to local needs. Tachalo combines the functionality of Yelp with the aesthetic appeal of TripAdvisor, integrating advertisements as part of its revenue strategy. The website is scheduled for release in late 2025.
Navigation
One of the key elements of Tachalo is its advanced navigation system, designed to help users find exactly they need with ease. You can actively search through 37 distinct categories and filter your results by location, distance, type of event, price, and keywords. This robust filtering system ensures you can quickly and easily locate the best local businesses and services tailored to your preferences.
Recommendations
The home page is designed to always stay fresh and relevant. It refreshes regularly with a mix of organic and promoted content, ensuring you see the latest reviews and recommendations tailored to you. Items on the homepage are thoughtfully grouped in sets of four, making it easy to browse through options at a glance.
Standardized Layout
Business pages on Tachalo feature a standardized layout, providing a consistent and user-friendly experience. This design choice ensures that users can quickly find contact information, reviews, and business hours, making navigation straightforward and efficient. Additionally, businesses have the opportunity to promote themselves in relevant categories, increasing their visibility to potential customers.
